Benabena
Since the late 1950s, missionary families from two Bible translation agencies have lived among the Benabena people, working tirelessly to translate the New Testament. Their efforts sparked evangelism and sporadic literacy efforts —but today, the 34,100 Benabena speaking people still do not have a usable Bible in their own language.
Both agencies have stopped work in this language group.
Passionate Benabena speakers approached Tyndale, asking for training and support so they could lead the translation themselves. Native speakers are now at the heart of the work—drafting, revising, and preparing Scripture that speaks directly to their people.
📖 What’s Been Accomplished So Far:
- ✅ 50% of the New Testament is now drafted
- ✅ Book of Luke nearly ready for printing
- ✅ Jesus Film translated into Benabena and being distributed.
- ✅ Sorcery Reconciliation Movie adapted from Kamano-Kafe and being distributed.
